The best luxury hotels in Bangkok – Handpicked by travel experts

The best luxury hotels in Bangkok – Handpicked by travel experts

Bangkok has some of the best luxury hotels in the world. However, luxury can look like different things for different people, some prioritize wellness, others the arts, and others attentive service. Whatever it is you are looking for, you will find it somewhere on this list. After years of arranging stays across the city for our clients, we’ve seen firsthand how much the right hotel can elevate a trip. Our team has personally visited every hotel on this list and we can assure you an unforgettable stay wherever it is you decide to go. This list covers the hotels we return to again and again, the ones that consistently deliver, and the ones our clients thank us for recommending long after they’ve checked out.

The Standard Hotel Bangkok

The Standard Bangkok Mahanakhon

As soon as you walk into The Standard you will immediately understand why this hotel stands out, with its intentional break away from traditional luxury aesthetic, The Standard opts for something a lot more bold, colorful, and creative, making the hotel seem more like a curated art gallery. Your eyes will not get bored of scanning around searching further for all the hidden details scattered around. The hotel has quickly become a culinary destination in Bangkok with several high-profile outlets, highlights include Motto 32, a Cantonese fine dining restaurant with very interesting decor and Ojo, located on the 76th floor and is Mexican fine-finding with a glamour gold interior. There is also the tea room, Tease, with decor that looks like it just came off a movie set. Sky Bar, one of the highest rooftop bars in Bangkok is located here, on the 78th floor with 360 degree views of the city.

The Standard also has an excellent gym and its pool includes a bar and private cabanas. We recommend this hotel for those looking for a unique sense of luxury that breaks away from its traditional aesthetics, anyone who loves a rooftop bar, and those who want to try some of the best fine dining in Bangkok without having to leave their hotel.

Kempinski Hotel Bangkok

Kempinski Siam Bangkok

While most luxury hotels force you to choose between a central location and a resort atmosphere, the Siam Kempinski manages both effortlessly. Sitting in the heart of the city’s most vibrant district, the entire property wraps around an enormous central saltwater pool, bordered by dense tropical planting that erases any sense of being in a major city. This means that for certain rooms if you step off your private terrace, you’re in the water. We recommend the Cabana Rooms and Duplex Suites that give you direct ladder access into the pool from your terrace.

The location here is a highlight too, a covered walkway connects directly to Siam Paragon, which makes a huge difference during Bangkok’s rainy season. A complimentary buggy is also available to run guests to Central World. This proximity is also ideal for those with mobility issues. The hotel’s own chauffeur fleet also handles airport transfers, making you feel taken care of before you even arrive. Three restaurants and bars serve the property, including Sra Bua by Kiin Kiinm, a Michelin-starred Thai restaurant that holds its recognition through true fine dining artistry.

What guests mention most consistently, and what stands out the most at the Kepmenski, and we’ve observed ourselves across multiple visits, is the staff. A welcome drink appears as soon as you arrive, preferences are quietly noted, staff is always genuinely friendly and warm, and this sets the tone for everything else about the stay.

Shangri La Bangkok

Shangri La Bangkok

To make the most out of your stay at Shangri-La we absolutely recommend booking a river-facing room, the movement of the long-tail boats and rice barges on the Chao Phraya creates an atmosphere that city-facing rooms simply don’t have. One of the things we enjoy the most about Shangri-La is how it brings local culture to life, the hotel’s riverside gardens often host a vibrant Thai night market where guests can browse traditional crafts.

The Fashionista afternoon tea in the Lobby Lounge is served daily beside floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the river. Everything arrives inside an oversized golden birdcage, sweet and savoury selections prepared with real care by the hotel’s pastry team. It’s theatrical while still being elegant.

The weekend seafood buffet at NEXT2 Café is a different occasion entirely, and one that Bangkok’s dining community has been returning to for years. Canadian lobster, Alaskan king crab, tiger prawns, scallops, and freshly prepared shellfish, all with the Chao Phraya directly outside.

U Sathorn Bangkok

U Sathorn Bangkok

U Sathorn is a hidden gem for those seeking a boutique, resort-style stay. It is a French-colonial property built around serene courtyards and lush gardens in the quieter Sathon district with a rare quality of stillness, feeling more like a luxury country estate than an urban hotel. One of the best things for international travelers here is their 24-hour room use policy, which allows you to check out at the same time of day that you checked in. The dining is also very impressive, with J’aime by Jean-Michel Lorain serving Michelin-standard French cuisine in a whimsical, “upside-down” themed dining room. It is a little piece of serenity for those who want to experience true peace and quiet in Bangkok.

The St. Regis Bangkok

The St Regis Bangkok Luxury Hotel

This is the definitive choice for corporate travelers or serious shoppers, or those who value serious, traditional luxury. The 24-hour Butler Service is one of the highlights here, handling everything from unpacking your bags to delivering coffee at any hour. The hotel is packed with memorable traditions, such as the nightly champagne sabering ceremony and the celebrated “Brunch Club” at VIU. For wellness, the Clinique La Prairie Spa brings Swiss precision to the heart of Bangkok, while the 15th-floor pool deck provides for incredible views over the Royal Bangkok Sports Club. We recommend those looking for something truly classical in its luxury.

137 pillars suites & residences bangkok

137 Pillars Bangkok Luxury resort

137 Pillars Suites is located high above the upscale Sukhumvit 39 neighborhood and it pays homage to Thailand’s royal history, something which is felt throughout the entire stay here. There are only 34 rooms here, each named after an era like “Sukhothai” or “Ayutthaya”. The “Suites” experience is defined by 24-hour private butler service and access to the Baan Borneo Club, where guests enjoy flexible all-day breakfast and complimentary drinks. One of the highlights here is the rooftop infinity pool, frequently cited as one of the most beautiful in the world. While the property features two pools, the 360-degree infinity pool is reserved exclusively for Suite guests, offering round-the-clock access and a panoramic skyline view. We recommend 137 Pillars as the definitive choice for those seeking a romantic and exclusive sky-high retreat in Bangkok.

rosewood Bangkok

Rosewood Luxury Hotel in Bangkok

The Rosewood is instantly recognizable on the skyline by its “wai” shaped silhouette, the traditional Thai gesture of greeting. It functions as an ultra-luxury sanctuary where design, service, and wellness are all held to a very high standard.

We recommend Rosewood for those who have a love for both art and wellness. The spa here, The Sense, is a centerpiece of the experience, offering “Lost Remedies” treatments that draw on ancient Thai healing traditions. There is also a 20-meter indoor-outdoor saltwater lap pool. Creatively, the hotel remains a vibrant hub, dedicating exhibition space to local artists and collaborating with creative collectives like Made in Songwat to offer guests exclusive, half-day excursions into Bangkok’s most authentic, hidden neighborhoods.

For the evening, the 30th-floor speakeasy Lennon’s remains one of the city’s best music retreats. Housing a staggering collection of 6,000 vinyl records, it invites guests to browse the library and request a soundtrack for their evening while sipping the new “Bangkok Beats” signature cocktails. For art, music, and wellness lovers that still want soemthing that feels truly luxurious, this is the hotel we recommend.

The Peninsula Bangkok

Peninsula Hotel Bangkok

The Peninsula Bangkok is consistently ranked among the finest hotels in the world, and a stay here makes that easy to understand. Here, you won’t have to worry about booking a specific room to get a nice view, every one of its rooms is designed with a “wave” pattern to ensure every guest enjoys views of the Chao Phraya River. The hotel champions authenticity through its “Life Lived Best” philosophy, offering sunrise yoga and guided tours of hidden Thonburi temples, experiences that take guests into parts of the city that the main tourist circuit never reaches. One of the main highlights here is The Peninsula Spa, located in a three-story colonial-style building. It is a world-class destination for holistic wellness, drawing in visitors that aren’t staying at the hotel. For those who value true wellness alongside true luxury, this is one we definitely recommend.

The Siam Hotel Bangkok

The Siam Bangkok Luxury Hotel

The Siam is one of the most prestigious hotels in Thailand and even in Asia, recently earning Three Michelin Key, the highest possible honor for hotel excellence. Located in the historic Royal Dusit district, The Siam feels more like a private art estate than a hotel. Filled with over 25,000 antiques, you will find them scattered everywhere including in the suits, making you feel like you are in a museum rather than a hotel. With only 39 suites and private pool villas, it offers a level of privacy that is unmatched in the city. Guests can also participate in unique experiences like Muay Thai training, visit their Sak Yant tattoo studio, or traditional cooking classes in a teakwood house. The Opium Spa is also highly regarded as a sanctuary for rejuvenation.

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Bangkok

Mandarin Oriental Luxury Hotel in Bangkok

Operating since 1876, it is Bangkok’s oldest and grandest hotel, the “Grande Dame” celebrates its 150th anniversary in 2026. It remains the ultimate symbol of opulence, having hosted royalty and famous authors for over a century. A stay here is a chance to be part of living history, whether you are enjoying afternoon tea in the Authors’ Wing or taking a private boat across the river to their world-renowned spa. With nine legendary restaurants, including the two-Michelin-starred Le Normandie, this is also an excellent choice for those who want to try some of the best food Bangkok has to offer without leaving their hotel.

Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at the Chaophraya River

Four Seasons Bangkok

This is the vibrant hub that feels less like a traditional hotel and more a creative art space, featuring rotating galleries in partnership with MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art) Bangkok. The hotel also features one of the most comprehensive “Urban Wellness Centres” in Asia and a 35-meter lap pool. Even for those not staying, the BKK Social Club is a must-visit destination for its Buenos Aires-inspired atmosphere, it has been recognised as one of Asia’s Top 50 bars and is a very popular spot in Bangkok. The restaurant here Yu Ting Yuan serves some of the finest Cantonese cuisine in Asia from a show kitchen, with live-prepared Peking duck, dim sum right in front of you.

Capella Bangkok

Capella Luxury Hotel in Bangkok

Currently ranked as one of the top hotels in the world, Capella focuses on a highly personalized experience led by their “Culturists.” These dedicated personal assistants curate every aspect of your stay, ensuring it goes far beyond a simple room booking. While every room faces the river, the Riverfront Villas are the real stars, featuring private pools and gardens that make you forget you are in a city of 11 million people. Dining at Côte by Mauro Colagreco, which recently retained its two Michelin stars, is a sophisticated Mediterranean escape that is well-loved by guests. For those who want to feel like every moment of their time in Bangkok is taken care of while also enjoying true privacy, peace, and quiet, this is the one we recommend.

Hopefully, something on this list has stood out to you, or perhaps you are even struggling to decide which one to choose, which is very understandable. Whether you are travelling for business, your honeymoon, or just want somewhere truly nice to stay while you are in Bangkok, our team can help sort out all the details to ensure your comfortable and luxurious stay begins before you even arrive.
