Patong Beach is one of the most famous beaches in Thailand. It is the most lively Place in Phuket all Day long and even at Night. The Beach is Located between Kamala Beach from the North and Karon beach from the South. It is around 45 Minutes to 1 Hour Drive from Phuket International Airport (Around 35 Kilometers away).
There are Plenty of things to do in Patong beach. Some People even Consider Patong to be Phuket’s Downtown area due to its Liveliness and variety of things to do in there.
Activities at Patong in The Morning
The Sea at Patong is Calm, Flat and Clear During High Season, which is Between November and April. During the Low Season, The Waves are a bit High at Patong.
Patong is a Public Beach, Accessible to all the Tourists. You just need to rent your beach umbrella and Sunbed and enjoy swimming in the Clear Water with the Golden Sandy Beaches.
You will find a lot of Jet Ski, Parasailing, Kayaking, and many other Water and Motorboats Activities that can be enjoyed in there. Vendors selling Snorkeling masks at Patong are everywhere, You can enjoy Snorkeling at Patong especially in its northern area next to the rocks where you can watch some beautiful colorful fishes swimming around.
You have to be aware while renting Motorboats or Buying Snorkeling equipment as there are a lot of Scams happening. Negotiation with the Prices Offered by the Vendors is something that you have to do and have to be prepared with.
Shopping and Dining at Patong
You can Buy almost Everything from Patong area. There are 2 Big Shopping malls Located in Patong area: Jungceylon Shopping Mall and Central Department Store. You can Shop from International Famous Luxury Brands and Eat from international Fast Food Chain Restaurants in there.
For the Dining, You will find almost all types of Cuisines served in Patong area. Indian, Thai, Middle Eastern, Arabic, Iranian, Mediteranean and International Food Shops and restaurants are open everywhere at Patong.
Bangla Road/ Patong at Night
Bangla Road is the Craziest Road in Phuket and one of the Craziest in Thailand. It is full of Night clubs, Bars and Restaurants, making it the most lively Place in Phuket at Night. The road is very Busy at Night and the Music is Very loud coming out from the Night clubs and Bars, Not really recommended to be accompanied with Children at Night in this Road. Some of the most famous Night clubs at Bangla Road are Tiger Night club and Illuzion Night Club.
Accommodation in Patong
In case you are considering Staying at an Hotel with a Private Beach, Choices will be very Limited in Patong area. Most of the Hotels in there are either Building Hotels, or resorts without Private Beach. But Most of the Hotels offer free Shuttle bus Services Daily from and to the Beach. For Beach front hotels you can consider staying at Kamala, Karon or Rawai Beach Areas.
