If you are planning to spend New Year’s Eve in Bangkok, there is no shortage of ways to celebrate. From watching the fireworks from a riverside hotel, to joining a dinner cruise on the Chao Phraya River or spending the night at one of Bangkok’s rooftop bars, there are options for very different styles of travelers.
The two main areas for the New Year’s Eve fireworks are CentralWorld and the Chao Phraya River.
CentralWorld is usually the livelier option, with large crowds gathering around the shopping district for the countdown. Along the Chao Phraya River, the atmosphere is different, with fireworks lighting up the river and several hotels, restaurants and cruises offering dedicated New Year’s Eve programs.
One thing to keep in mind: New Year’s Eve is one of the busiest nights of the year in Bangkok. Restaurants, cruises and hotels with good views can sell out well in advance, so it is worth making arrangements early.

Toggle1. Watch the Fireworks from Your Hotel
If you want to enjoy the Bangkok New Year’s Eve fireworks but do not want to spend the evening standing in a huge crowd, booking a hotel with a good view can be one of the most comfortable options.
There are two main areas to consider:
Around CentralWorld
Hotels in and around the CentralWorld area can offer views towards the city’s main countdown celebrations.
Along the Chao Phraya River
Riverside hotels are particularly attractive if you want to watch the fireworks over the river from the comfort of your room, balcony or hotel facilities.
This option is especially suitable for couples, families and mature travelers who would rather have a relaxed evening instead of joining a large street celebration.
Our tip: If the fireworks view is important to you, do not simply book a hotel because it is described as “riverside” or “near CentralWorld.” Ask specifically about the room category and whether the room has a guaranteed fireworks view (We can help you with that).
2. New Year’s Eve Dinner Cruises
A dinner cruise is one of the easiest ways to combine dinner, entertainment and fireworks in one evening.
Several cruises operate on the Chao Phraya River during New Year’s Eve, with significant differences in atmosphere and price. Some are focused more on dining, while others are essentially large floating parties.
Manohra Dinner Cruise

For travelers looking for a more refined and relaxed evening, the Manohra Dinner Cruise is a very different experience from the large party cruises.
The cruise takes place on a traditional-style boat and focuses primarily on dining rather than a loud countdown party. It is a good choice for mature travelers and couples who prefer a fine-dining atmosphere over a large party environment.

3. New Year’s Eve at a Bangkok Rooftop Bar
Bangkok is famous for its rooftop bars, and New Year’s Eve is arguably the biggest night of the year for them. The main advantage is obvious: you can enjoy the countdown above the city, with many venues offering panoramic views and, depending on the location, views towards the Chao Phraya River fireworks.
However, rooftop New Year’s Eve events are generally much more expensive than a normal evening at the same venue. Most operate with fixed packages, minimum spends or special New Year’s Eve menus.

Our Recommendation
- For travelers who want to see the Bangkok fireworks without dealing with the biggest crowds, we would first look at a hotel with a guaranteed fireworks view or a riverside restaurant or rooftop.
- For a romantic and elegant evening, a traditional dinner cruise such as Manohra is a particularly good choice. It is more about the food, setting and experience than a loud countdown party.
- For younger travelers and groups of friends, the Chao Phraya Princess or one of the rooftop countdown parties will usually be a better fit.
- And if the main purpose of the evening is simply to party until late, venues such as Pastel and ABar are more suitable.
- Whatever option you choose, book early. New Year’s Eve availability in Bangkok can disappear quickly, especially for river-view tables, rooftop venues and hotel rooms with guaranteed views of the fireworks.
- If you are planning a trip to Bangkok for New Year 2026–2027, we can also help arrange your hotel, New Year’s Eve dinner or cruise, airport transfers and Thailand itinerary as part of one trip.
