Wat Arun, Also known as Wat Chaeng or The Temple of Dawn, is one of the most famous and most visited Temples in Bangkok. The Temple is Located On the other side of The Grand Palace at the West bank of the Chaophraya River. Compared to the other Temples in Thailand, Wat Arun Design is very Different and has one of a Kind design.
It is Easy to reach wat Arun especially if You are already in The Grand Palace. All you have to do is to take the Shuttle boat from the East bank and Cross to the West Bank of The river.
The Best Time to Visit the temple is During sunset. The view is spectacular in there at that time, that is why it is also called the Temple of Dawn. A good Thing to do is to visit Wat Arun and the Grand Palace in the Same day. Both are located very close to each others.
The Temple Opens its doors from 8:00 AM in the morning and Closes at 5:30 PM in the evening. However, most of the times it is crowded during sunset due to the amazing view. Usually Not crowded in the early morning.
The Temple was Built in the 19th Century on 1847. It was started by King Rama II and The construction finished at the time of the King Rama III. Its Tower Hieght is around 70 meters and its Name came from the Hindu God of Dawn “Aruna”. The Temple was Restored and renovated from 2013, and it became fully ready again and fully uncovered in 2018.
