Thailand Tourism Updates 22 September 2021

Below are the Main Thailand Tourism Updates and Highlights for the week of the 22nd September 2021.

Alternative Quarantine Hotels have Seen Drop in Bookings During August & September
Alternative Quarantine (AQ) hotels’ Occupancy rates have been reduced by 25-30% in the months of August and September. This is considered to be the lowest since the start. When comparing with the Occupancy in 2020, it has dropped by 60%.
International vaccinated travelers are now using the Phuket Sandbox Model as a better alternative to enter the Country, and others are Hoping for possible shorter quarantines later this year.
Some Members of the AQ Club may have to temporarily close by January 2022 if Bookings Keep Slowing Down.

CCSA’s Vaccination Target in October
The CCSA’s goal is to vaccinate at least 50% of the population in each province in the month of October. The Priority will be for the Elderly People, People at High Risk, and Pregnant Women.

The Thai Hotels Association is Supporting Bangkok Reopening
The Thai Hotels Association (THA) is supporting the Bangkok Reopening as soon as Possible, and encouraging domestic stimulus campaigns, in order to increase hotels occupancy rates from only a single digit to 15-20%.

Indonesia is Suggesting a Tourism Triangle with Phuket & Langkawi

On 16 September, Chiang Mai’s Doi Chiang Daoh was named as a UNESCO biosphere reserve, Which brings the Number of biosphere reserves in Thailand to 5 in Total.
