Phuket Sandbox Day Tours

Phuket Sandbox Day tours were available During the Phuket Sandbox model to allow the tourists arriving to the island to explore the nearby tourist attractions. The Sandbox Model was applicable and took place from July 2021 until the introduction of the test and Go Model. During this time, the government was trying to ease the restrictions for international tourists arrivals to boost the inbound travel industry and revive the economy.

Tourists were only allowed to do specific day tours when in Phuket and they were not 100 Percent free to go wherever they want around the island. The visit had to be inside Phuket province (That includes Phuket island and nearby islands that belong to the province). For Example, tourists were allowed to go to islands such as Racha island and Coral island Phuket, However, they were not allowed to go to Phi Phi island. That’s because Phi Phi island belongs to Krabi Province and not to Phuket province. 

The Government was doing its best to prevent the Outbreak of any waves for COVID 19 pandemic, and in case of any outbreak, they would have been able to control it within one province only. 

Later on, the government has introduced something called Phuket Sandbox Extension, which allowed tourists to split their stay between 2 destinations (one of them is Phuket for at least 7 Nights and the other one was one of the following destinations: Krabi, Phi Phi island, Khao Lak, Koh Samui, Koh Tao and Koh Phangan). 

In order that the operator be able to sell any tour, it had to be SHA Plus certified by the Government. A Sha Plus certificate requires at least 70% of the company Staff to be fully vaccinated against COVID 19 Virus.
