The Phuket Sandbox Model is Performing Better in August Compared to July In terms of the Number of Arrivals in the First 10 Days of Each month.
From the 1st till the 10th of July, Phuket has received a Total of 3,917 Tourists under the Sandbox Model. While in the Same Duration in August, The Island has received a Total of 5,111 Tourists. An Increase of 30% in terms of number of arrivals has been seen between July and August .
That’s a Good sign proving that the Phuket Sandbox Model has built trust for people considering a Beach Holiday in a Destination in South East Asia during this time of the Pandemic. Other Destinations worldwide are Also considering Reopening under similar models for International Vaccinated tourists.
The initial Target set by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) for this model was to receive a Total of 129,000 Tourists from July till the end of September.
As of the 10th of August, Phuket has received a Total of 19,166 Tourists since the Start of the implementation of Sandbox.
To reach the Target, the Island has to receive around 110,000 more Tourists from Now till the end of September. Will this Target be Reached?
Today, the 11th of August, Phuket has welcomed the First flight arriving from Hong Kong (Cathay Pacific Airlines) for the Sandbox Program, Which Opens the Chance for a New Market to Join the Model by flying directly to the island instead of the need of transiting in another Destination in Southeast Asia to Reach Phuket.
There are also Expectations that the demand on the Sandbox will increase in the next month after Implementing the Sandbox Extension Model (7+7), which will allow Tourist to move to other Designated Destinations in Thailand after Spending only 7 Nights in Phuket. This Model Should start to be applied starting from Mid of August For extending to: Railay Beach, Phi Phi Island, Koh Ngai, Khao Lak, Koh Yao, Koh Samui, Koh Tao and Koh Phangan.
This will give more freedom for tourists to explore Several Destinations in Thailand during their 14 Nights Stay before being able to move to any other Province.
