Thailand Reopening Plan Updated

Thailand has Started its Reopening Plan for International Vaccinated Tourists Since the Start of The month of April. Before this week, There were hesitations regarding Opening Phuket for Vaccinated Tourists without the need of Quarantine in July. However, On Monday 19 APRIL , The minister of tourism and sports (Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn) has announced that the Plan of reopening will Proceed as per below Timeline and Details:

Phase 1: Quarter 2 (APRIL – JUNE) – 0+7 Model

The First Step towards opening Thailand Borders for Vaccinated Tourists has already Started Since the Beginning of this Month (APRIL 2021). This Phase is Called 0+7 Model (Also named as Area Quarantine). It’s Applied in Several Destinations around Thailand: Phuket, Phangnga, Krabi, Koh Samui, Pattaya and Chiang Mai. (Travellers have to arrive to these destinations through Direct International Flights only)

Area Quarantine (Or 0+7 Model), is about allowing Tourists arriving into the above mentioned Destinations who are Staying in Area Quarantine Hotels to Be able to use the Hotels’ Facilities. This will be applied on Vaccinated and Non Vaccinated tourists, The only difference will be is the required Stay Duration in these Area Quarantine Hotels.

Vaccinated Travelers from Low Risk Countries will need to Spend 7 Days Quarantine. Non Vaccinated Travelers from Low risk countries will need to Spend 10 Days Quarantine. Travelers from high risk Countries will need to Spend 14 Days Quarantine.

Area Quarantine Hotels have to be approved by the Ministry of Public Health Based on Specific Requirements.

Phuket Reopens to Vaccinated

Phase 2: Quarter 3 (JULY – SEPTEMBER) – Phuket Sandbox Model

This Second Phase Should Start from July 2021. It will be applied only for Vaccinated Tourists Traveling from the Low Risk Countries, arriving to Phuket with International Direct Flight.

Vaccinated Tourists will be allowed to enter Phuket without the need of Quarantine, But they will be limited to Stay in Sealed Areas only in the first 7 Days After Arrival. This Sealed area has not yet been Identified, but most Probably it may include Some Districts or Islands based on how the Vaccine has been Distributed by that time. After the First 7 Days, They will be allowed to move freely around the Country.

During this Period, The Other Areas included in the First phase: Phangnga, Krabi, Koh Samui, Pattaya and Chiang Mai, Will remain in the Area Quarantine Model as per the First Phase.

Phase 3: Quarter 4 (OCTOBER – DECEMBER)

The First Phase of Reopening Thailand will take place from October 2021. It consists of Opening Other Destinations With the Same Sandbox Model applied In Phuket In Quarter 3. These Destinations will be: Phangnga, Krabi, Koh Samui, Pattaya and Chiang Mai, in addition to Phuket. Same rules are Going to be Applied as mentioned in the Quarter 3 Period.
